Empowering prison workers to mobilize and manage an efficient educational environment in prisons: from idea generation to creating initiatives and implementing pilot actions.
Estimated duration: 5h per week, for 18 weeks.

It refers to the management of expert tutoring and group activities.
This course aims to increase the prison staff’s readiness to understand, mobilize and manage a more efficient educational environment in prisons. In this training, the participant acquires knowledge about innovation. Moreover, participants will identify the suitable tools to generate new ideas and turn them into pilot actions. We will challenge trainees to apply knowledge, skills and tools throughout a complete process, including identifying opportunities for innovation, generating an idea, turning that idea into an initiative, creating the pilot plan and measuring the degree of innovation added.
Who should attend?
• Prison staff (top and middle management, reintegration and education staff, Prison officers, teachers, trainers, administrative or assistant staff)
• Live online sessions with a trainer, self-study and “on the job” project/activities
• A minimum of 20 participants is required to start this course. We will make sure the groups are formed accordingly once the 20 enrolled trainees are reached.

Tiago Leitão is a Senior Manager and Board Member at IPS Innovative Prison Systems, CEO at Aproximar and EaSI – EuropeanAssociation for Social Innovation. Holding a Social Work degree and an MBA, Tiago has more than 15 years of professional experience as a social worker, consultant, project developer, entrepreneur and manager within the fields of social innovation, management, consultancy and social reintegration.
A guest lecturer may be present during the programme. We are committed to supporting and inspiring our trainees by frequently inviting experts from a variety of backgrounds and career paths in the field of Corrections to provide their expertise throughout the course or at a special lesson.
The content of this course has been developed and piloted in Belgium, Moldova, Portugal, Romania, The Netherlands and Turkey, under the IDECOM project, co-funded by the European Commission under the ERASMUS + programme – KA2 – Strategic Partnerships for Vocational Education and Training. The course content is free to access (except any modules with restricted access due to certification requirements). The price associated with this course refers to expert tutoring and learning management system fees.
