Disengagement and deradicalisation (Group and Tutored)

This specialised course module focuses on the process of the deradicalisation process in prisons and probation settings. Also, it gives essential insights on how to deal with this global problem by providing an overview of the existing exit programmes, intervention principles and leading strategies.
Estimated duration: 3h47 per week, for 2 weeks.
This course requires a pre-registration.
It refers to the management of expert tutoring and group activities.

• Blended learning: autonomous e-learning sessions and live online sessions with a trainer
Pre-requisites
• Proof that you are a professional in the area of prisons, probation or community organizations operating in the correctional sector;
• A minimum of 10 participants is required to start this course. We will make sure the groups are formed accordingly once the 10 enrolled trainees are reached.

Pedro Liberado is Chief Research Officer at IPS Innovative Prison Systems and coordinator of the Radicalisation, Extremism and Organized Crime portfolio. Pedro holds a Sociology degree and MSc in Criminology. He is doing postgraduate studies in Strategic and Security Studies and is a PhD candidate at the University of Granada.
Vítor Costa

Vítor Costa holds a PhD in Psychology and is a professor at the University of Beira Interior and researcher at the BSAFE Law Enforcement, Justice and Public Safety Lab. Vítor is one of the authors of the RRAP Radicalisation Risk Assessment in Prisons toolset.
The content of this course has been developed and piloted in Belgium, France, Germany, Portugal and The Netherlands, under the WayOut project, co-funded by the European Commission under the Internal Security Fund – Police programme. The course content is free to access (except any modules with restricted access due to certification requirements).
